Dr. Panagiotis Stylianidis is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics of the Cyprus University of Technology. He obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2006. He then continued his studies at Imperial College London, where he received an MSc in Structural Steel Design and a PhD in Structural Engineering. He is a member of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) and graduate of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), UK. Previous research has been concerned with the response of steel and steel-concrete composite structures to progressive collapse, focusing on the behavior of beam-column joints under combined loading. Aspects of his research work have been published in scientific journals and international conference proceedings. Two of his most recent journal publications have received institution prizes – the Best Research Paper Prize by the Institution of Structural Engineers (UK) in 2016 and the Outstanding Paper Award by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering in 2018. He has previously worked as a Special Scientist at both the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology in teaching undergraduate structural engineering courses.
