Nicos Evmides

Nicos is currently working as a Research Fellow in EMERGE at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics of Cyprus University of Technology. He completed his Computer Studies Diploma at Higher Technical Institute (CY) before continuing to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at University of Indianapolis (US) which he gained in 2004.  He then continued his studies in London (UK) where he gained a Master’s Degree in Data Communication, Networks and Distributed Systems from University College London (UCL) in 2006. Furthermore he gained an MBA degree in 2018 from University of Cyprus. At the moment he is pursuing  a PhD degree from Cyprus University of Technology.

He has extensive industry experience in the IT sector having worked at various positions as mentioned in the next lines. Programmer/tester at Amdocs Ltd (a telco systems provider) for 4 years. Head of IT /Project Manager at Interfussion Services Ltd and Ena Technologies Ltd (software/consulting companies) for 5 years. Project Manager at Spotoption Ltd for 2 years. Research Fellow in various Programs at Cyprus University of Technology for  7 years.  Specifically he is focusing in the research areas of data collection, data management, and data analysis methodologies aimed to address real world business needs in the maritime domain. He worked for “Sea Traffic Management Validation Project” and “STEAM: Sea Traffic Management in the Eastern Mediterranean”. He is currently funded by the “EMERGE: East Med Energy Research Centre of Excellence for Growth and Education” project.
