Sea Traffic Management (STM) Validation Project

The STM Validation Project will demonstrate the STM concept in large-scale test beds in both the Nordic and Mediterranean Seas, encompassing around 300 vessels, 13 ports (among them the Port of Limassol) and 5 shore-based service centres, as well as using the European Maritime Simulator Network. STM connects and updates the maritime world in real time, with efficient information exchange. Through data exchange among selected parties such as ships, service providers and shipping companies, STM is creating a new paradigm for maritime information sharing offering tomorrow’s digital infrastructure for shipping. The STM Validation Project is a 3-year project (2015-2018) and has a total budget of approximately 43 million euros. 50% is co-financed by the EU (Connecting Europe Facility/Motorways of the Sea).
