Dr Marios Koronides has joined the EMERGE Centre of Excellence of Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in 2023 and currently works as Postdoctoral researcher. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2017, graduating with a grade of 8.98/10. Following this, he pursued and completed his MSc in Soil Mechanics and Engineering Seismology with distinction from Imperial College London in 2018. In 2023, Marios obtained from the same institution his PhD, titled “Numerical and field investigation of dynamic soil-structure interaction at full-scale”. He has been a recipient of prestigious scholarships throughout his academic career, including the Skempton Scholarship, Leventis Foundation Scholarship, and Departmental MSc Scholarship from Imperial College London.
Marios’ main research interests encompass Soil-Structure interaction, earthquake engineering, soil mechanics and offshore foundations. His research reflects to either onshore or offshore structures founded either on shallow or pile foundations. His research integrates numerical analyses with full-scale experimental testing and field monitoring data.
Marios has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. He is a member of Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), British Geotechnical Association (BGA) and Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED).
